The island,
locally
guided.
Beaches, viewpoints, villages and roads locals actually love. We can drive you to all of them — but first, here's what's worth your time.
Zakynthos is
larger than
you think.
Most people come for Navagio and leave with the horizon in their eyes. But the island holds far more than a postcard: caves that glow blue in the west, hidden coves that smell like wild thyme, villages that still keep last year's rhythm.
This page is a small guide. Not an algorithmic top-10 — just the places we, who live here, send friends to when they ask "what's worth it?".
When you've chosen, we'll take the wheel.
Six places worth
the drive.
Kampi · cross at sunset
A white concrete cross perched on a 350-metre west-facing cliff above the Ionian. The island's most renowned sunset — silent stillness until the cliff-edge taverna opens for the wine hour.
Porto Limnionas
A stone fjord with crystal water and a single taverna serving fish straight above the rock. Not a beach — an experience.
Bohali · town viewpoint
The sunset that quietly tunes the town. A square, a Venetian castle, the harbour lights blinking on far below.
Keri · blue caves
In the belly of the cliffs, water glows electric blue. Reach by boat or by swimming — no filter does justice.
Banana · long sand
Golden sand, soft shallows, neat rows of umbrellas. For families with kids and anyone who wants a beach without a scramble.
Xygia · sulphur spring
Sulphur-rich water from a natural spring flowing into the sea. Smells like egg, treats your skin, leaves you with a story.
Four ideas for
your afternoon.
Light & stone
at the Castle
A Venetian fortress above the town. Pine canopy, 16th-century walls, and the most generous view of Zakynthos bay. Best one hour before sunset.
Wine at
Kallipado
Two historic wineries within four kilometres. Indigenous varietals, easy chats, homemade meze. We'll drive you out and wait for you.
Dinner at
Lagadakia
A mountain village. Just one taverna — but it serves the best goat on the island. Stone tables, a window to the sea.
Turtles &
Laganas Bay
Caretta caretta nest on the beaches of the National Marine Park. Spotting boats sail from Limni Keri. Respect the water — no flash, no shouting from the rail.
Three things that help.
Bring some cash
Mountain villages and small tavernas mostly take cash. In town and the bigger places, cards work fine.
Go early or late
In July and August, the popular beaches fill by 11. Go at 8 AM or after 5 PM — different island.

The best table, the quietest beach, the shorter route — it's not on the screen. It's in your driver's head. Ask.
